During your stay in Les Gets, treat yourself to an excursion to Morzine, within easy reach of the hotel. At the heart of the Aulps valley, this authentic mountain village offers visitors a taste of a different lifestyle, with its half-timbered façades, openwork balconies and slate roofs. On a wander through the village, discover a heritage which has been preserved through the centuries: the town hall, the old post office, the old bridge, the covered market and other typical Savoie-region buildings. Take a moment to visit the baroque Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church with its impressive nave. It houses a 19th century balcony organ, made in Germany and listed as a historic monument.
Until the early 20th century, Morzine’s economy was linked to agriculture and the slate mines but, from the 1920s, the tourist industry started to develop. The summer season attracted visitors at first, with holiday-makers in search of fresh air. Then, the winter season developed, with the growing appeal of winter sports. In 1934, the first ski lift was opened, transforming the village into a ski resort and, in 1960, the Avoriaz massif was re-developed to create a higher-altitude skiing area. Today Morzine and Avoriaz are two of 12 resorts in the Portes du Soleil Franco-Swiss ski domain.
In winter, Morzine and Avoriaz are dream destinations for lovers of skiing. Little ones can learn how to ski in the Village des Enfants (Children’s Village) while more advanced skiers can discover freestyle in the Stash, Europe’s first eco-Snowpark. There are plenty of other activities too: Nordic walking, snow-shoe trekking, dog sledding, mountain biking on snow, luge, diving under the ice... in summer, make the most of the extraordinary views of the Alps along the trekking paths which will take you over mountain peaks, around lakes, and through charming little hamlets. Whiz down the Bike Park tracks on a mountain bike, and discover climbing, via ferrata or paragliding. Kick back in the different pools of Aquariaz - a 2,400 m² tropical aquatic centre.
The largest cross-border domain in Europe, Les Portes du Soleil invites you to the heart of its three valleys. With over 600 km of slopes, enjoy long sessions of skiing, pass over into Switzerland, come back to France and visit 12 unforgettable resorts.
During the summer period, Les Gets offers some of the most impressive mountain biking facilities in the Alps with 90 km of marked tracks. You can also enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the village on a trek, over a round of golf (just 800 m from the hotel) and while taking part in many other activities.
In winter, the resort of Les Gets boasts over 120 km of slopes to enjoy your activity of choice: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, skijoring, snow boot trekking, luge... The village provides access to Les Portes du Soleil, one of the world’s largest ski domains.
Between Lake Léman and Mont-Blanc, the resort of Les Gets has preserved its typical Savoie mountain village identity. The quality and diversity of its ski domain and its activities make it the perfect place for a family holiday.
